“With the launch of the iPad Mini today, Apple has started running a new television ad for the device that it showed off during the media event last week. The ad — entitled ‘Piano’ — doesn’t have any voiceover; instead, it shows GarageBand running on the full-size iPad playing one hand of the two-hand duet from ‘Heart and Soul’. The song is an easy-to-learn piece popular with beginner pianists. Moments later, the iPad mini appears, playing the second part of the duet.”

Due to the damage that Sandy have done in NYC and the everlasting popularity of Apple products, I guess I will have to wait a few more months before I can get an iPad Mini for my mom. Yes. I am buying one for my mom as a birthday gift. It is a big statement since my mom isn’t a literate person. She didn’t even finish 4th grade in China when she had to quit school to work to support her family. With me currently working in China and her in NYC, keeping in touch haven’t been easy. Well, it isn’t all that hard either considering that we can video chat on skype, facetime on the iPhone and use iChat on the computer. The hard part was getting my mom to learn how to use these programs after she learn how to power on and off my MacPro back at home. But we got through that.
When I first heard of the iPad Mini, I thought how easy it would be for me to teach my mom to use a few simple apps like facetime to talk and wechat to leave voice messages and to share pictures on a day to day basis if she had her own iPad Mini. This is why my mom must own one. As a true Apple product user, not follower, thank you for creating great quality products time after time while keeping it ultra user(mom)-friendly. If not, I don’t think my mom can learn how to use it.
